Still Life

I started photographing still lives almost haphazardly as I would bring flowers in from my garden. Being struck by their beauty as they lay upon the table waiting for me to put them in a vase. They were never really compositions so much as they were snap shots. Then in the early days of 2020 before the pandemic hit, I began to shift the focus of my photography and I'd decided I wanted to learn more about the art of still life compositions. My idea was to recreate some of the antique scientific drawings that lined the walls of our favorite restaurant. As I gathered my thoughts on how to go about creating, the pandemic came. Suddenly the ability to get to the grocery store vanished, never mind sourcing local flowers. So I continued to gather my ideas but didn't start creating until that spring. Once I did I was hooked, and I've not looked back. Below are just a few of my favorites. You can find a more comprehensive collection on my instagram.
